The storyline follows a Russian commando sent on a secret mission to try and prevent the start of a third World War in 1947, after the close of the War to end all Wars. The storyline quickly branches off into different possible threads. At the start of a new game, the player begins by selecting a character class. Throughout the game, as the character completes tasks, they gain experience points. These points can be spent in upgrading a characters skill in handling different weapons, their rate of success for their attack, their stealth abilities, and a bunch more depending on their character class. Characters also gain familiarity with weapons the more they stick to a given weapon. These simple RPG stylings allow the gamer to become more involved and attached to their characters. At the same time these elements of the game are streamlined enough such that the combat and free roaming elements are allowed to be the focal point.

Set in the British-American sector of occupied Germany in the spring of 1949, you are a Soviet undercover agent who finds himself caught in the middle of an escalating confrontation between the intelligence services of the world's superpowers. You'll have to make your way through a web of cunning intrigues, setting off chain reactions that will affect the fate of the world: will it live in peace, or collapse into the chaos of World War 3?
A unique mix of turn-based and role-play, Hammer and Sickle is a brand-new gaming experience. The dizzying array of tactical solutions for each situation is greatly deepened by the fully destructible environments - while an open mission structure and the non-linear story put you in complete control of the game world.

This is a third-person shooter in which players assume the role of a soldier battling aliens on a mysterious spaceship. From a top-down perspective, players explore dark corridors and search for key cards, unlock doors, and attempt to power up areas of the ship. Aliens emerge from holes, pods, and passageways to attack the player’s character; the soldier uses assault rifles, shotguns, machine guns, flamethrowers, and grenades to kill hostiles, including larger boss aliens. Aliens screech and emit splashes of green blood when killed. The word “sh*t” is heard occasionally in dialogue.
